Master 'Sweet' in New York City

My recent clients called from Manhattan to tell me about their big project; combining two apartments into one unit. They aren't ready for an interior designer, and they do love to decorate and go vintage shopping themselves. So, they asked for my Design Consulting services , and we started hammering out the details.

Here's the plan I created for their master bedroom. With a little luck, I'll be in NYC soon adding all of the finishing touches...

We start here, with their existing dark wood sleigh bed frame- a classic anchor for the elegant and airy room the clients desire.

I recommend juxtaposing this heavy piece with the playful allover pattern of this stunning Fawn wallpaper by Chenonceau...

then lightening things up with the luxurious texture of this matelasse bedding by Peacock Alley.

Neutral plans look best with a few bursts of color, so here are some accent pillows available at Layla Grace, Bliss Living Home and Serena & Lily

While I'm at it, I recommend throwing in a versatile Jaipur rug...

English style bobbin turned leg side tables by Bunny Williams...

and these lovely lamps at Wisteria.

With all these layers of texture and pattern, the decorations should be simple, warm and elegant. Here are a few things my client might choose for their room.

And to personalize the whole look, some original artwork by their kids that can be framed professionally and placed anywhere the rooms needs a master's touch. (this art below is by Sugarboo Designs, but my clients' kids will be creating master pieces all their own.)

I can't wait to see all these pieces come together in New York.
