Landscape Desk- painting old motifs in a modern way

My latest project.

I found this wonderful old secretary desk at a flea market and knew right away that I'd be A. buying it and B. painting it with my 'torn' landscape motif.

This piece fascinates me because it seems to be a made from a combination of store bought and handmade pieces. I think the inside shelves and back panel we re-built, but it's hard to say.

I usually paint the inside of the pieces I re-finish because it adds a unexpected element to the piece and also usually helps eliminate that old musty smell that usually accompanies old wooden pieces.
