Story of Stuff: my Torn Landscape Dresser with Pewter Metallic finish
Share
It started with a sweet little piece I found at a vintage shop in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco...
I knew immediately that I wanted a warm silver metallic finish to give the piece its due refinement.
So after sanding and priming, I painted the piece with a blackish brown mink color for richness. The panel is primed with a tinted blue primer; a lustrous undercoat for the landscape I'll paint there.
Halfway done here, I layered several coats Modern Masters metallics pewter, English brown, and brass, each color scrubbed into the one before to push the layers together into a rich warm metallic that's also durable and elegant.
I love how the warm metallic finish makes the carved details sparkle and defines the delicate curves of the cabriolet legs.
The piece stands alone beautifully, but many of your know that I like to add cubby shelves to old furnishings making them useful and elegant in closets, bedrooms and dining rooms.
A simple mirror may suffice as well...
But I do like it just like this...
All one of kind pieces, this Torn Landscape dresser is available on my site, The cubby shelf and pressed metal mirror are available on Chairish.
