Step Away from the Computer!

Sometimes progress seems so slow- like nothing's coming easily and progress feels like pushing trees with roots... Momentum is gaining, doors are opening, but sometimes it feels like I'm pushing a tree with roots. Yesterday was one of those days, so despite the fact that I had a proposal due and two deadline looming, I had to step away. I can only handle so much computer time, people! So, I grabbed this chair that I started awhile ago and decided to paint the fabric to see if my idea for reupholstering in in vintage leather would be worthwhile. The Beauty of Dirty Work: painting my bookshelves...again

Things are coming along in my living room and I'm starting to see the finish line! This weekend, I painted the rest of my bookshelves. My goal was to show off my book collection without distracting from the graphics I painted on the walls above them. Of course, I rarely just paint a piece. I also had to employ my handy dandy wood grain rocker to give these simple boxes some texture. Now, Faux Bois (fohw bwah) is the real art of creating wood grain finishes.
