Linen to Linen and Paint to Print

People have been asking me about the creative process behind my decorative pillows. It's been awhile since I explained it so here's a quick recap: [caption id="attachment_7999" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="I paint..."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7998" align="alignleft" width="425" caption="then have my painting printed onto linen."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_8002" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="and sewn into pillow covers... OR..."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_8001" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="...panels for furniture. I'm not sure if I'll continue the current pillow designs with my next round of product development (what do you think?) so, let me know if you'd like a list of the pillows I have left in stock. For now, all furniture pieces are one-of-a-kind, so let me know if you'd like to talk about a custom piece for your home....

The Whole Sha Bang! diy paint Videos and more...

With the DIY videos about wrapped up, I'm heading off to Philadelphia soon to work on a makeover for CertaPro Painters getting back just in time to start a residential interior design project with a new client. It's been a super busy Summer and I'm super grateful. Could you do me a favor while I'm away? Watch all of the videos (linked below!) then go to DIY Network's facebook page and let them know you saw them, which ones you like, and maybe that you'd like to see more. My Village People- part 3

They say, it's not what you know, but who you know. I couldn't agree more! Case in point, Meagan Lewis, founder of Brown Pigeon created the X and O stamps for my stair project. I found her 'randomly' last year while looking on Etsy for custom stamps and homemade booklets for an event I was planning. Her stamps are so creative and precise, I had to come up with a way to use her work in the videos. I gave her the concept for the shapes which she turned into the perfect size and style. Gotta love when a plan comes together. Megan has a beautiful book coming out with Chronicle and continues to expand her horizons on with her...

Good Stuff

I've slacked on blogging this week- there's much going on here in the Making Room for More camp. I'm working on some website stuff (can't wait to show you!), a big new article (so much fun!), contracts with clients, placing orders for that bedroom I showed you (remember what would you do week?), planning a little Holiday event... the plates are spinning, spinning... So, I'm keeping it simple this week with some fun tidbits I hope you enjoy, starting here! If by any chance you're flying Alaska Air in the near future, be prepared to read my tips about color in the Alaska Air's in flight magazine! The article starts on page 66, Creating New Spaces. Page 69 features my...

You Can't Be in a Bad Mood: things that make me smile

Recently, I'm noticing more art, objects, things that make me smile. I have a saying when I find something really cheerful and clever or beautiful at the same time, "You can't be in a bad mood when you look at that!" Here are a few things that put me in a great mood... Dominic Wilcox is one of my favorite emerging artists. Check out his latest work (and his blog, Variations on Normal), Watch Sculptures called Moments in Time. Jaime Derringer, founder of Design Milk must share my sense of humor, she finds images, products and design that often make me smile. These made me laugh out loud... I especially love this photo by Vadim Fedotov that appeared on my...
